Emergent and the Regulative Principle « Provocations & Pantings

If you haven’t been here before, I would welcome you to check out the post on the EC and the Element Church here in Cheyenne. Element as far as I can trace back is a Methodist plant, and a particularly dangerous brand of Methodism, thoroughly Arminian and perfectionist. In the ongoing corruption that is taking place it is curious that Element does not advertise its affiliations. Very curious, because of the type of church that gave rise to Element. One would think that Element would be proud of its heritage (I have yet to receive a response on a challenge to their doctrine of sin). Element ministers list among their favorite books many titles by EC authors, as well others well known for their perversions of the faith.

At P&P you can join the dialogue. I am posting here in hopes that those who are getting sucked into this abyss in Cheyenne might discuss why they are enamoured with this style, and movement, and why, seeing that this is really a mask for a mother church that for some reason keeps itself hidden from view. I would like to know why they are attending a church that they have no true knowledge of.

If you watched the Pagitt videos here, you’ll get more to make you sick at P&P and their post of an interview of the right rev.. As you watch the news article, take note, that one of the churches mentioned is a Methodist EC. Curiouser, and curiouser….this fascination with methods!

What You Must Believe To Be Saved

There are a lot of disagreements.  And we can talk about those things if you want. I am really curious though about what you must believe to be saved. So, I am going to say this, and this, as well as this. The conversation here will be to discuss the bare minimum that you must know and believe to be saved. Some are teaching that there isn’t anything we can know for certain, some would say that you cannot know at all, which rules out believing, and therefore salvation. What say you?

Above I gave three Scriptures, they address the minimal understanding that one must have to claim for themselves that they are Christian. As a Calvinistic Baptist, I have argued that the “T” of the TULIP, falls naturally where it should be. Sin is the reason that we are lost in the first place. But, it is not just sins that we are talking about. It is the awareness of the absolute depravity of the soul. It is the sensibility of evil within us. As is well addressed here, it makes no sense to claim the mercy of God and salvation by his grace, if we have not first be confronted with the Holiness of God and thereby utter darkness and filth of our own evil condition.
